Just one unit for all needs
The heat pump provides for domestic hot water production in addition to cooling and heating, simplifying the system and reducing the initial investment required.
Domestic hot water storage
The heat pump should be sized based on the building’s requirements and not to instantly provide domestic hot water, as in traditional systems. Available heating capacity is therefore lower, hence the need to always combine the heat pump with a domestic hot water storage tank, sized to meet hot water demand even at peak times.
Domestic hot water production solutions
Domestic hot water production can be provided by heat pumps using a three-way valve on two-pipe units, or total heat recovery on four-pipe units.
Two-pipe heat pump
The three-way valve fitted on the heat pump outlet deviates water flow from the system terminals to the domestic hot water storage tank.

Four-pipe heat pump
Whenever a fluid is cooled, heat needs to be transferred to an outside source, either air, water or the ground. Rather than wasting this heat, it can be exploited to heat the domestic hot water for free, using a special heat exchanger for total or partial heat recovery. The heat pump can operate all year round in any operating mode: either single cycle (cooling, heating, domestic hot water) or combined cycles with total heat recovery (domestic hot water together with cooling).

Supplementary electric heating
The Nadisystem controller can manage the electric heater in the domestic hot water storage tank to supplement the heat pump, to run the Legionella prevention cycle, and as source of heat for domestic hot water if the unit shuts down.
