29 June: FOCS-WNR Climaveneta unit combined with solar panels and geothermal probes at Pernera Beach in Cyprus, renewed hotel in sustainable ways.

It is the first plant built on the Island and it combines the use of renewable energy to non-CO2 emissions. For this reason the 30% of the total cost of the system was supported by the Cyprus Institute of Energy which considers the plant as a model system. The system covers 90% of the energy needs of the hotel and is managed by an advanced building management system.
A Climaveneta FOCS-WNR has been selected for summer and winter air conditioning. It is a heat pump unit for indoor installation, specially designed for 2-pipes plants application with water source to be combined with geothermal system. The special feature of this unit is the dedicated heat exchanger that provides hot water for secondary uses on request, like domestic hot water that is totally free during summer period(summer season). Both the plant-side (primary) and the secondary heat exchangers are shell&tube: the first one working as an evaporator or condenser as a function of unit’s commutation, and the latest working only as a condenser.
At Pernera Hotel the unit was also equipped with VPF system. The unit is then able to manage the pumps to modulate the flow rate on both exchangers allowing a considerable saving on pumps functioning power consumption. To save power the system has been also equipped with a sniffer regulation, which let the pumps functioning on recovery only when it is needed.
